Birch Class

Another fantastic week of home learning from Birch class! It is great to receive your amazing work. A big well done to you all!  Keep up the hard work and your commitment to learning. Project day: Friday 3.4.20 Shoes Shoes Shoes! Time to use your imagination and become creative designers!  Following on from the video ‘The Little Shoemaker’, today's task is to design and create your own pair of shoes, that you would love to wear. Draw, colour and label your pair of shoes in your home learning journal. If you would like to you can make a model of your shoes too. Things to think about: style (trainers, heels, flats, boots or sandals), colour and accessories (laces, light up, wings...). Below are some ideas to get you started. Thursday 2.4.20 Maths:  Find ten more and ten less than the number shown in the column below. Then think of your own numbers and find ten more and ten less. Use the 100 square to support you.  Tip: the ones number will stay the same, the tens number will change.  For example: 3 5 Ten more: 4 5 Ten less: 2 5 Writing:  Read the following sentences below and copy them out into your  home learning books,  adding the correct punctuation: ? ! . at the end of the sentence. Wednesday 1.4.20 Maths task:  Find one more and one less than the number shown in the column below.  Then write 5 addition number sentences and 5 subtraction sentences.  For example: 12 + 1 = 13 12 - 1 = 11 Reading task: Wednesday 1.4.20 Read the following text about the famous author Roald Dahl  then answer the questions in full sentences. Extra questions:  Have you read any of his books?  If so, which ones and which book was your favourite and why?  If not, which book would you like to read and why? Let’s spread the positivity! Design and make your own rainbow to put in your window for everyone to see who is passing by.  The rainbows aim is to make people smile whilst they are walking by and offer a message of hope. Writing task: Tuesday 31.3.20 Verbs: are a doing word. It is a word used to describe an action  and tells you that something is happening.  For example:  The rabbit was jumping in the field.  Jumping is the verb. Reading task: Tuesday 31.3.20 Let’s get reading! Today take the opportunity to sign up to and access oxford owl: https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/ It is a fantastic free resource to use with a wide range of books to read and listen too.    As well as the chance to play phonics activities and maths games.

Maths task: Tuesday 31.3.20 Count the money in each purse and write your answers in your home learning book. Write a number sentence for each of your answers. For example, 10 p + 10p + 10p + 10 p + 1p + 1p+ 1p + 1p = 44p

Reading Task: Monday 30.3.20 Read the following text ‘All about spring’ and answer the questions in full sentences. Extra question: What do you enjoy most about the spring season and why? You can choose between either of these texts below.

Maths Task: Monday 30.3.20 Answer the following addition and subtraction questions below.  Use the number line to support you counting forwards ( + ) and backwards  ( - ).  For the addition questions, remember to add the tens first,  then add the units for examples, 13 + 14 =  10 + 10 = 20    3 + 4 = 7   20 + 7 = 27 For the subtraction questions start with the biggest number and count  backwards with the smallest number.
